Loved this pattern! |
I felt good enough about this one to give it to Lois Johnson, author |
I used 200 yds for a bit shorter look |
Made this one for Edith - a little shorter |
love the shimmer |
Materials:
300-400 yards sock yarn (depending on how long you want it -- finished with 400 yds.,
scarf is approx. 7" wide x 95" long)
10 1/2 circular needle (for a more lacier effect, go up 1 needle (11 or 12) -- for a more
tighter effect, go down 1 needle (9)
1 safety pin
Scarf is worked on diagonal. You knit every row until you have just enough yarn left to
bind off. Steam press when completed, it will open up the lacy pattern
Scarf Pattern:
Cast on 39 stitches, leaving a tail of about 8" for later weaving in.
Row 1 (wrong side) Slip 1 stitch, knit to end of row.
Row 2 (right side) Slip 1 stitch, knit into front & back of next stitch, knit to last 3 stitches,
knit two stitches together, knit 1
Put a safety pin at the beginning of row 2 to show which side the shaping (increasing &
decreasing) occur.
Repeat rows 1 & 2 until only enough yarn remains to bind off.
Stitch count remains constant at 39.
Bind off loosely (if necessary, bind off with a needle one size larger than the one you knit
the scarf with). Weave in ends.
