Messy Bun Hats

2018: Found this great pattern on Ravelry. (pattern name is in one of the pix below)

Brooke receiving her messy bun hat

Brooke's probably felt good in that Washington State winter

Crystal modeling hers

I had so much fun making these.  For adults and kids alike.

love this soft Cascade yarn - baby alpaca and merino
these are for the Goff girls
Lacey Goff wore hers on a frigid Texas morning for her run

I knew she would rock those colors

I especially like this yarn for Macie's hat from Flatland Ranch: alpaca and bamboo mix

Laurie and Crystal got one for Christmas this year

Sherry's is a pompom because she  doesn't have a bun

Tommie Foster
Tommie modeled this one at the 2018 CWF Christmas party. Hugh Dean won it, but she has no bun.

Kathey wanted Razorback (or Christmas) red

Kathey modeling hers at Tamolly's -- evidently it was mustard shirt day

Julie asked me to make some for her girls
one of her daughters shared hers on Facebook

Carol put hers on as soon as she finished cutting my hair

A few more of my peeps will get one of these this Christmas!

Meleah requested that I make one in blue for Amy Kay

she looks beautiful in it!

Macy Knight -- I tried to incorporate some Boise State color

Amy's and Macy's might come in handy in the north country (Idaho)

My Derby, KS yogis! Angela and Shelly own the yoga studio I went to there
Our other Amy looks so pretty in  hers, too!  She got that same red yarn I used for Kathey's, plus one row of the black/white/gray that I used on one of Laura's hats
Amy asked for a few more!

made myself a couple of the closed versions of this -- I decided to remove the pompom from the red one
Marlee Kay got and extra

This has been such a fun project and gift idea!  I'll have a tough time finding diy gift ideas for Christmas 2019 that was this fun and trendy!

Messy Bun Hat for Kids

 our little Wren

My friend, Kay Rhodes asked me to make a couple of Messy Bun or Ponytail hats for some little ones in her family.  I'd been wanting to try some, so that kinda pushed me on into it. So glad, because now I've made several..... for kids and adults. Fun project!

You can see the pattern here, which I got off of Ravelry, of course!

my first 3

Kay's little relative

Chloe got one for Christmas 2017

Chloe is such a pretty model

The purple one is Wren's.  Wish I could remember who got the other 3

And just a "few" more pics of Wren Fogel, just because.

Feb 2019:  Marlee Kay got one that was a little larger kid size.  Pic below.

Cork Creatures

For Christmas 2017, I got a Christmas gift box from Michaels, filled it with corks that my bestie Kathy Palmer gave me, and added some tiny pompoms, mustaches, eyes, stickers, and some pipe cleaners, and sent them to the Goff group.  Their instructions were to make something from them and send me a pic.  Below are the fun pix I got from that creative bunch.

Twisted Reversible Hat

free pattern by Littletheorem

One of the first things Edith asked me to knit for her when she moved into the nursing home, was a hat.  She stayed chilled and she thought that might help.  She asked for yellow and so I did a mustard yellow, which she loves.

Edith in her new hat and the fingerless mitts I made for her last Christmas

I love this pattern because it looks good inside and out.

Laura got one and likes that it fits loosely

And it's spiral.  Very easy knit.

Decided to make myself one in that same mustard color

a cute pompom came off of one of my throws, so I used it for my hat

That was 2017.  Now I've made a few more for Christmas 2018.

One of the fun things about settling back down in Texarkana is I have access to one of the best yarn shops in the country

which is where I got this wonderful Cascade yarn as well as the hank below

It's made out of merino and baby alpaca.  Super soft and fun to knit with

Laura wanted another that would be warmer for her CO winters

I just love how the top looks

She opted for no pom-pom, but I placed the excess yarn ball to show how one would look

our beautiful Laura Lee

And since she didn't have a pom-pom she could wear it under her helmet when she went snowmobiling

3 more for Lisa, Odestine, and Pam -- the 2 on the outer edges are alpaca from Flatland Ranch in Kansas

Pam wore hers on a hike shortly after Christmas

Pam on the far left

Crystal has "Hair to Jesus"!

Sherry Stone got a "pom-pom" hat for Christmas 2018 because she doesn't have bun. Looks cute on her!

Odestine 's was made with the wonderful Cascade baby alpaca and merino

Knitted Fruits and Veggies

Lissa and Patrick asked me to knit some fruits and veggies for our little Wren that she can play with in her new kitchen.  Lissa and Patrick have more faith in my knitting than they probably should.  Overall, I was fairly pleased with the turnout.  However, one of the bananas looks more like a squash.  So now......it's a squash.

These were free patterns off of Ravelry.
